Why would I want a Massage?
Good Question. Massage benefits your relaxation and your general health through:
- Improved circulation to the muscles of the neck, trunk, arms, and legs
- Reduced muscle tension and soreness
- Improved immune system function
- Improved flexibility
- Decrease in pain of achy joints and muscles
- Reduced stress and anxiety
- Enhancing the benefits of other treatments and activities in physical and occupational therapy, exercise, and strenuous jobs
- Massage also benefits those with headaches, low back pain, leg cramps, muscle spasms, neck pain, neck and shoulder pain, sciatic nerve pain, tendonitis, restless leg syndrome, plantar fasciitis, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Are there different kinds of Massage?
Yes. Each has a purpose and will typically give different benefits.
- Swedish Massage is the basic form of relaxation massage. It increases your circulation, reduces muscle tension, and decreases stress. It is very relaxing and serves as the foundation for all other modalities.
- Connective Tissue Release does most of the work with the least amount of effort. It loosens the tissues that are stuck together and helps the muscles release their tension.
- Sports Massage is used to decrease recovery time after an event and to increase performance. It can be used on anyone not just athletes.
- Trigger Point Release relieves pain caused by a taut band of muscle with a painful nodule in it.
- Shiatsu is a form of energy work that uses finger pressure to move your energy along the energy paths of your body to achieve a state of balance.
- Chair Massage can be done anywhere. The chairs are portable and can be brought to your work site or special event.
- Prenatal Massage soothing strokes are used to help you relieve stress, relax, and adapt to your changing body. We recommend a physician release as a precaution.
